Rep, Customer Service & Sales - Hilo. (Start date will be January 2014)

Sell complete cable packages, upgrade existing services, save downgrades, and to promote excellent customer service by assisting customers, providing information, answering questions and solving problems in the HILO System area.

Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent is required. Minimum of one-year administrative, customer service, or sales experience is preferred. Working knowledge of computers including Windows, Word, Excel. Stable employment history.

Special skills, knowledge, and abilities: Types at least 40 wpm, use of telephone system, and calculator. Must have excellent telephone etiquette, good persuasive, verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Able to sell and handle all customer service inquiries through effective communication. Knowledge of general office procedures, basic mathematics.

Hours: Monday-Sunday, must be available between 5am-1am. Additional coverage as needed.

  • Appointment to begin approximately February 2014, pending position clearance and availability of funding. This position serves as the Summer Session Coordinator for the College of Continuing Education and Community Service at the University of Hawaii at Hilo.
Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Plans, directs and supervises program operations to include the promulgation, implementation, and maintenance of summer session policies, procedures, practices and systems.
  2. Administers, coordinates and evaluates a broad-based summer session program in such areas as programming, class building, personnel processing, financial accounting, procurement and purchasing, and budget formation and execution.
  3. Reviews system fiscal reports, determines account balances, analyzes and evaluates program expenditures, and prepare financial reports for the dean.
  4. Coordinates auxiliary and ancillary support services as needed, included but not limited to facility use reservations, class time and room scheduling, registration and payment monitoring.
  5. Plans and implements marketing and recruitment strategies for summer classes and programs.
  6. Provides support in student registration using online Banner system and manually as required.
  7. Serves as acting dean in the dean’s absence.
  8. Occasional work during evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
  9. Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
  1. Possession of a baccalaureate degree in Education and other related fields and 2 year(s) of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for program coordination; or equivalent education/training or experience.
  2. Any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.
  3. Considerable working knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in the program coordination field as demonstrated by the broad knowledge of the full range of pertinent standard and evolving concepts, principles and methodologies.
  4. Considerable working knowledge and understanding of applicable federal and state laws, rules, regulations and theories and systems associated with program coordination.
  5. Demonstrated ability to resolve wide ranging complex problems through the use of creative reasoning and logic to accurately determine the cause of the problems and the resolution of the problems in an effective, innovative and timely manner.
  6. Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing, verbally and by preparation of reports and other materials.
  7. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team leaders and members, and individuals.
  8. Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing software.
  9. For supervisory work, demonstrated ability to lead subordinates, manage work priorities and projects, and manage employee relations.
  10. Valid driver's license.
  11. Understanding and application of effective marketing technology and techniques.
  12. Ability to plan programming that is responsive to student needs and within the mission of the institution.
Desirable Qualifications
  1. Possession of a program coordination certification or specialized training.
  2. Possession of a Master’s degree in Education or related area.
  3. Four years of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for program coordination.
  4. Knowledge of the island of Hawai`i, specifically its people and communities.
  5. Knowledge of UH administrative processes and procedures.
  6. Knowledge of multi-media marketing and publicity techniques.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Communication is the heartbeat of any Army National Guard unit. By joining the Army National Guard as a Signal Support Systems Specialist, you will keep the information flowing by making sure all communications equipment is in top working order. And while you maintain signal support devices and terminals in the Army National Guard, you will be building skills that will help you in your civilian career. Signal Support Systems Specialists are responsible for integrating signal systems and networks; performing signal support functions and unit-level maintenance on authorized signal equipment; and installing, operating, and maintaining radio and data distribution systems. In this role, you will train and provide technical assistance to users of signal equipment and learn to operate and perform preventative maintenance checks and services on vehicles and power generators. And as your skills increase, so will your responsibilities. Advanced team members supervise and train other Soldiers; maintain and install signal support systems and terminal devices; provide technical assistance and training for automation and communications equipment; prepare maintenance and supply requests for unit-level signal support; and operate and perform preventative maintenance checks and services on assigned vehicles. Plus, the skills you learn will prepare you for a rewarding civilian career in communications equipment, radio, and teletype repair. These skills are also in demand by the federal government. Civilian positions may require additional study in electronics, where you will have the opportunity to qualify for certification as an Associate Certified Electronics Technician. Earn while you learn Get paid to learn! Join the Guard and you will learn valuable job skills while earning a regular paycheck and qualifying for tuition assistance. After 10 weeks of Basic Training, where you will learn fundamental Soldiering skills, you will attend approximately 17 weeks of Advanced Individual Training (AIT), which will include a combination of hands-on and classroom training. This is where you will learn mechanical, electronic, and electrical principles; line installation; wiring techniques; preventative maintenance procedures; and communication security policies and procedures.
