Assist with all aspects of NCAA Division I Football Program, including student recruitment and development, on field coaching, contest scheduling, compliance with NCAA, Conference and University of Hawaii rules and regulations, student-athlete academic achievement, and other duties assigned by the Head Coach.
Additionally, the incumbent must maintain collaborative working relationships with administrators and coaches in the department, other college offices, and appropriate relationships with members of the media, donors, and other individuals interested in the sports program.
Assist and participates in practices and intercollegiate competitions. Teach necessary skills from the basic fundamentals to the techniques and strategies of team play.
Promote and foster a positive team environment, appropriate behavior, and sportsmanship by team members. Responsible for the conduct of team members both on and off the field.
Promote the physical and mental well being of all program participants.
Assist with evaluating, recruiting and selecting qualified prospects who have the ability to compete in the classroom and athletically. Actively seek out and encourage a diverse group of prospects and assist them through the application process. Work collaboratively with the Compliance, Student Affairs, Academics and the Admissions Office staff to qualify and process prospects in a timely and efficient manner.
Make recurring contacts by telephone, written correspondence, off-campus visits and evaluations, and coordination of campus visits as assigned by the Head Coach.
Assist with overseeing the academic progress and success of student-athletes including promoting and maintaining an environment that encourages academic achievement as measured by academic eligibility, retention, and graduation.
Participates in sports clinics, exhibitions, and camps as approved.
Actively participates in fundraising, promotional, and public relation activities for the sport program.
Know, recognize, and comply with the laws, policies, rules, and regulations governing the University of Hawai‘i and its employees, and the rules of the National Collegiate Athletic Association and of the affiliated conferences as now constituted or as may be amended in the future. Immediately advises the Director of Athletics or designee if there is reasonable cause to believe violations, whether by employees, students, or others, have occurred or will occur.
Performs other duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from an accredited four year college or university; One (1) year experience coaching football at the college or university level; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of football as competed at the collegiate level.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: Division I football coaching experience.

Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Reviews & audits all personnel transactions for accuracy & compliance, determining appropriateness in relations to all applicable university, collective bargaining, state, federal, and third party policies and procedures.
  2. Inputs, generates, and processes Payroll Notification Forms (PNFs) and casual/overload (Form 6s). Ensures data is accurate and input in a timely manner.
  3. Responsible for initial orientation & in-processing of new employees, generates the appropriate payroll document(s), routes for signature & timely processing. Verifies accuracy of employee data in employee files/Peoplesoft system.
  4. Independently reviews for accuracy & compliance on all recruitment documents, including SF-1’s vacancy announcements, recommendation to hire memo for faculty, APTs, GA, civil service & casual & overload appointments.
  5. Coordinates annual health plan Open Enrollment for CNS announcement of meetings and deadline on forms submissions. Assists faculty & staff in resolving various problems regarding employee benefits.
  6. Assists in the management & maintenance of all confidential personnel files and records, in accordance with State and Federal laws and union contracts.
  7. Assists with the preparation of workers’ compensation reports, and calculation of claims for temporary disability as needed.
  8. Notifies supervisors of support employee performance appraisals requirements and deadlines. Provides guidance and assistance to supervisors on process and procedure as needed.
  9. Provides support services in personnel management or other administrative areas as needs arise.
  10. Assists the Chief Administrative Officer on other assignments as needed.
  11. Ensures that personnel transactions are processed and submitted to the payroll office in a timely manner.
  12. Reviews and oversees the processing of appropriate supporting documents for new appointments, resignations, terminations, leaves without pay, transfers, pay changes, account codes and status changes.
  13. Reviews appointments and employment forms such as I-9s, benefit forms, etc. to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance.
  14. Prepares and audits G-2’s for college personnel. Processes and disburses as appropriate.
  15. Administers rules and regulations, and develops college policies and procedures for the Student Employment and Cooperative Education (SECE) program. Oversees the processing of student appointments and payments.
  16. Assists in developing and writing student assistant position descriptions. Establishes and/or classifies position classifications and pay. Reviews requests for pay increment and/or promotion.
  17. Distributes information on upcoming training programs and ensures that appropriate forms are completed on a timely basis for training and workshops.
  18. Audits applications for benefit enrollment and changes for eligibility and timely submissions; processes and distributes as appropriate.
  19. Review reports of work related injuries and timely submission to appropriate offices.
  20. Review notices of unemployment insurance claims filed with the Department of Labor and Industrial Relations. Based on research of personnel files, prepares appropriate responses to DLIR.
  21. Responds to requests for employment verification.
  22. Processes TAPs payments for casual and overload payroll.
  23. Provides notary services for State of Hawaii personnel forms.
  24. Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
  1. Possession of a baccalaureate degree in business administration or related field and 0 year(s) of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for N/A; or equivalent education/training or experience.
  2. Functional knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in human resource management demonstrated by knowledge, understanding and ability to apply concepts, terminology.
  3. Functional knowledge and understanding of principles, theories, federal and state laws, rules, regulations and systems associated with human resource management.
  4. Demonstrated ability to recognize problems, identify possible causes and resolve the full range problems that may commonly occur in the human resource management.
  5. Demonstrated ability to understand oral and written documentation, write reports and procedures, and communicate effectively in a variety of situations.

Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Serves as Admin Officer for FIRST Pre-Academy STEM programs, Academy for Creative Media (ACM) system programs, & related programs, responsible for administering State appropriated & extramural funds, as well as UH Foundation funds for assigned projects.
  2. Provide the full range of administrative support services to include financial accounting, purchasing, budget formulation and execution, property management, and human resources functions associated with appropriated and extramurally funded projects.
  3. Prepares, reviews and processes purchase requisitions and other fiscal and procurement documents for UH, RCUH and UHF processing.
  4. Assist in the development of cost proposals and creates financial reports and budget status reports including forecast information and trends. This includes creating budget and forecast templates as required.
  5. Reviews budgeting, preaward, advance funding request and makes recommendations for disposition to primary fiscal authority.
  6. Trains staff and student assistants in preauditing purchase orders, travel requests, and other procurement documents, and oversees preaudit functions. Advises other staff on handling of complex procurements.
  7. Prepares, reviews and processes personnel transactions related to immigration, hiring, time keeping, payroll, continuation, employee benefits, evaluation and termination of employees for both the UH and RCUH systems.
  8. Checks FTE certifications and cost sharing forms to insure accuracy; annotates the forms as necessary and obtains necessary signatures
  9. Assists the Senior Administrative Officer/Principal Investigators(PIs)/Managers in meeting financial management and personnel responsibilities by serving as a liaison between the office, other support offices, and the different central offices.
  10. Responsible for the preparation, analysis and interpretation of the departments and project financial conditions; monitors the fiscal reports and records and reports significant changes to Program Directors/Managers.
  11. Ensures compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, procedures and other guidelines applicable to financial, fiscal and personnel matters. Keeps abreast of changes and advises Directors/PIs/Managers and appropriate project staff.
  12. Informs and reviews University accounting system and ledgers with Directors, Managers & PIs and advises on applicable policies, rules, regs, & procedures of the Univ., State, granting agencies, federal & State laws, collective bargaining provisions, etc.
  13. Assists in contracts and grants management; such as the formulation of budgets, preparation of financial reports, narratives and analysis, personnel matters, purchasing and compliance with UH, RCUH, State and federal and other sponsor guidelines.
  14. Develops and designs worksheet tools and checklists for tracking budget, post award expenditures, program assessment to ensure that all efforts are directed towards meeting program objectives and maintain fiscal soundness.
  15. Assists in the audit and review of purchases, which includes review of logs, reconciling on-line ledgers, correcting entries to adjust changes in account codes or object symbols, and confirm monthly central reports.
  16. Assists in management of property and project resource inventory.
  17. Works directly with project staff to achieve intended goals of STEM, ACM, First Pre-Academy and other related programs.
  18. Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
  1. Possession of a baccalaureate degree in Business Administration, Accounting or related field and 3 years of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for financial management; or equivalent education/training or experience.
  2. Considerable working knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in the assigned financial, governmental accounting, and/or purchasing/contracting management as demonstrated by the broad knowledge of the full range of pertinent standard and evolving concepts, principles and methodologies.
  3. Considerable working knowledge and understanding of applicable federal and state laws, rules, regulations and theories and systems associated with financial or government accounting, purchasing/contracting management and payments.
  4. Demonstrated ability to resolve wide ranging complex problems through the use of creative reasoning and logic to accurately determine the cause of the problems and the resolution of the problems in an effective, innovative and timely manner.
  5. Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing, verbally and by preparation of reports and other materials.
  6. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team leaders and members, and individuals.
