Nasittuq provides exemplary support services in CFS Alert, situated in the Canadian Arctic.  Our highly skilled workforce provides services that include all elements of facilities maintenance, airfield operations, food services, transport and logistical/administrative support to our customer, the Department of National Defence (DND). 
This position will be responsible for ensuring that bulk fuel systems are maintained and repaired as required to support fuel systems and handling operations. 
This position works 40 hours per week on an 8x4 rotation (8 weeks on-site and 4 weeks on leave). Work is carried out in a remote Arctic location with exposure to severe outdoor winter weather conditions. 
 Responsibilities:
  • Perform all POL tasks, inspections and tests on the POL tank farms including the pumps and lines
  • Inspect, maintain and repair the bulk fuels system tanks and pipelines on a daily and weekly basis
  • Take receipt of bulk fuel and ensure that the fuel is deposited in the appropriate storage facility
  • Perform fuelling services with POL products for authorized aircraft, outlying building and miscellaneous storage tanks/units which includes the transfer of fuel from the tank farms to the day tank and portable tank
  • Assist in de-fuelling operations from aircraft wing tanks under direction of Flight Engineer
  • Respond to emergencies of spills of POL or system failures
  • Perform repairs on all fuel supply systems (restoration of services) as per industry standards
  • Accurately record all work orders for the facilities, as well as records or normal and abnormal operating conditions and malfunctions along with corrective actions taken
  • The successful incumbent will required to be part of the Fire response team; training to NFPA 1081 standard will be fully provided. 
Qualifications:
  • Possess PM3 certification or equivalent certification in accordance with provincial/territorial regulations as follows:
    • Alberta: Alberta Petroleum Storage System Contractors Association - License A remove and install tanks    
    • Saskatchewan: Training through local colleges and overseen by Saskatchewan Petroleum Contractors Association
    • Manitoba: Petroleum Technician course through local college - PM1service and maintenance
    • New Brunswick: Training through local community colleges
    • Nova Scotia: Training through local community colleges - Class 1 Removal and Class 3 Installer
    • PEI: Training through local community colleges - Class 1 Removal and Class 3 Installer
    • For all Provinces:  Applicants possessing Pipefitter certification will be considered as well
  • 5+ years experience
  • Must be eligible for ENHANCED RELIABILITY security clearance, and must pass a company pre-employment medical
  • As overnighting in Thule Greenland is a requirement, must possess a valid passport
  • Ability to work cross-culturally; strong team player; will need to roll up sleeves and pitch in as/when required
