This position is designed to introduce the high school student to the many facets of a Unit’s operations; inclusive of both front of the house and back of the house operations.  This position requires the student to work under close supervision of the trainer and Store Manager to ensure the highest level of success for the student.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Counter training will include gaining knowledge and experience in the following:
·        Interacting with guests and co-workers in a friendly, enthusiastic, and outgoing manner.
·        Working independently or as part of a team.
·        Problem solving and critical thinking skills.
·        Importance of being trustworthy with cash and company property.
·        Importance of multi-tasking in a fast paced environment.
·        Importance of being punctual and dependable.
·        Providing exceptional guest service by greeting and thanking guests in addition to anticipating their wants and/or needs in order to ensure a pleasant dining experience.
·        Taking orders and practices suggestive selling techniques.
·        Accurately entering orders into the POS system and processing credit cards, gift cards, coupons, and cash payments properly.
·        Packing and checking orders to ensure they are completed to the guest’s satisfaction.
·        Accurately taking phone orders and/or phone messages.
·        Importance of having product knowledge and understanding of on going promotions to properly assist guests.
·        Maintaining a safe and sanitary work and guest area through constant cleaning, organizing, and replenishing of necessary items.
 
Assistant Cook training will include gaining knowledge and experience in the following areas:
·        Preparing raw food for cooking and presentation in accordance with the Company’s established recipes, portions and methods.
·        Exposure to the various cooking stations within the kitchen.
·        Proper food handling procedures and safety/ sanitation guidelines.
·        Importance of the need for a constant flow of communication with all staff members to ensure a smooth flow of service is essential to ensure the success of the operation.
·        Regularly checking food items to ensure adequacy and quality at all times.
·        Importance of replenishing supplies according to designated quantities and time requirements.
·        Importance of  minimizing waste and ensure that stock is always fresh by checking dates and rotating stock.
 
Utility training will include gaining knowledge and experience in the following areas:
·        Cleaning the customer dining areas, parking lot, restrooms, and surrounding areas.
·        Emptying trash containers.
·        Washing china and utensils in a dishwashing machine.
·        Assisting servers by bussing tables.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
 
Physical  and Mental Ability:
  • Able to lift 20 pounds frequently; occasionally lifting up to 60 pounds
  • Standing and/or walking up to 8 hours; bending, reaching and squatting frequently; pushing and pulling frequently
  • Able to work in temperatures ranging from 0 -95 degrees or more
  • Able to read, write, speak, and comprehend the English language.
 
Pre-Employment Requirements:
  • Must pass drug screening test
  • Must have passed a TB test within 5 years of the start date with skin test
