Job Summary:Prepare and analyze rate proposals and financial reports to support the Marketing Department in the account rate renewal process and execution of the account’s contract. Submit account specific rate calculations and documentation for approval to the State Insurance Commissioner’s office.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Calculate and analyze rates using the historical utilization of the account. Extract and analyze historical data of the account to ensure accuracy and good logic. Analyze the overall composition of the group to ensure that the total risk is not excessive. Produce and audit rate renewals and rate filings and exhibits using pre-established guidelines and templates as a basis for analysis, performing necessary additional research on issues that fall outside these guidelines. Support rate filing activities. Answer basic underwriting questions from accounts and Marketing Department on rate renewal calculations and various financial arrangements.
  2. Prepare, analyze, and audit other reports as required by account (5500, statistical reports, financial reports, financial accountings, etc.). Prepare, analyze, and reconcile monthly billings for self-insured accounts based on the terms of the contract with the account. Answer basic underwriting questions from accounts and Marketing Department on statistical and financial reports.
  3. Produce and audit other data as needed to support the Account Planning process; work with Marketing Department. Analyze and prepare rate proposals for prospective accounts. May accompany Marketing staff to client meetings to answer questions and provide additional underwriting information.
  4. Update and maintain rating and reporting system. Research and resolve data problems when they arise.
  5. Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Minimum Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor’s degree or 4 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  2. Strong problem analysis and decision making skills involving multiple variables in standard situations.
  3. Ability to use a personal computer and Microsoft Excel and Word.
  4. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  5. Ability to multitask and manage priorities so assignments are completed accurately and on time.
