Description
Overview:
As a Holiday Fragrance Sales Associate, you will be an integral part of bringing the magic of Macy's to life during the fast-paced holiday season. Associates in this role perform a number of functions that are critical to offering our customers the best experience when they shop in our store. While all holiday positions require working as part of a team to meet department and store objectives, your individual responsibilities will include keeping the selling floor stocked with merchandise in addition to demonstrating outstanding selling and customer service skills.
In order to present our customers with the best holiday shopping experience, many of our Holiday Fragrance Sales Associates arrive prior to store opening and remain after closing to ensure we are ready to make Macy's magic. All holiday associates will have the opportunity to work a flexible schedule on a temporary basis, which may include early mornings, evenings, weekends and busy events such as the day after Thanksgiving and the day after Christmas. And don't forget - just in time for holiday shopping, you will receive an employee discount of up to 20% starting your first day!
Essential Functions:
- Achieves sales goals while displaying prompt, courteous, knowledgeable and professional customer service
- Proactively seeks opportunities to recommend creative strategies which will impact the Store's overall business performance
- Acknowledge customers in a friendly and helpful manner within 30 seconds of their entry into the area
- Handle all returns courteously and professionally
- Sell fragrances and related merchandise according to customer service techniques and professional selling skills
- Determine customer needs based on personal features and other customer preference related factors
- Explain and demonstrate use of fragrances through actual application
- Responsible for achieving personal sales goals
- Use clientele program to maintain customer profile and contact information to increase personal sales
- Be knowledgeable of and perform sales support functions related to POS procedures
- Alert Fragrance Counter Manager or GSM of Cosmetics and Fragrances of inventory and other inaccuracies
- Attend product training classes and seminars
- Ensure proper presentation, organization, storing, and replenishment of stock
- Participate in pre-selling and sales driving events to maximize sales
- Ensure timely processing of new receipts, damages, testers, and return to vendors (RTVs)
- Maintain good housekeeping standards and ensure work area is free from hazards and work in a safe manner
- Adhere to Loss Prevention control and compliance procedures
- Be in compliance with all hygiene standards
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality
Qualifications:
Education/Experience · Prior retail sales experience preferred, but not required.
Communication Skills · Strong interpersonal and communication skills · Ability to read, write, and interpret labels including warnings ingredient lists on products. · Ability to effectively communicate with customers, peers, and management.
Mathematical Skills · Basic math functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. · Able to use a calculator and calculate percentages and ratios. · Must be able to make change in American monetary units.
Reasoning Ability · Goal-driven and the ability to multi-task. Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Physical Demands · This position involves constant moving, talking, hearing, reaching, grabbing and standing for at least two consecutive hours. · May occasionally involve stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders. · Must be able to lift at least 30 lbs. · Vision abilities include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Other Skills · Exceptional customer service skills. · Enthusiastic, friendly, and energetic with a genuine desire to provide outstanding service. · Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment during constant periods of high volume. · Must be able to build relationships and influence others. · Superior organizational and time management skills.
Work Hours · Ability to work a flexible retail schedule including the day after Thanksgiving, special Big Event days, and the day after Christmas. · Hours subject to change based on business needs.
