About our Agency:The Washington State Patrol (WSP) is a professional public safety agency made up of dedicated professionals who work hard to improve the quality of life as well as prevent the unnecessary loss of life on a daily basis.  The WSP has approximately 2,200 employees and is organized into six bureaus: Field Operations, Technical Services, Forensic Laboratory Services, Fire Protection, Investigative Services, and Commercial Vehicle Enforcement.  More than half of all WSP employees work in a variety of non-commissioned jobs to support the Patrol's mission.

 Duties:
This position serves as the receptionist for the Seattle Crime Laboratory and is primarily responsible for the following tasks:

Greet customers and visitors to the lab; 
Answer telephones and direct calls to appropriate personnel/work areas;
Clerical responsibilities to include scanning and processing of documents and entering information into database programs;
Prepare cases and paperwork for dissemination to user agencies along with proper filing/archiving of completed cases and documents
 Qualifications:
Required:
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent;
  • One year of experience in a typical business office;
  • Ability to operate fax machines, copier/printers, and business office computer(s);
  • Concise and effective communication with other individuals to include internal and external organizations;
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team setting;
  • Ability to conduct oneself in a professional and respectful manner;
  • Ability to understand and follow the chain of command;
  • Ability to comprehend and follow verbal and written instructions and directives;
  • Ability to follow established WSP regulations and CLD policies and procedures and stay current with all changes;
  • Maintain strict confidentiality pertaining to case submissions, the criminal justice process AND personal information related to laboratory personnel;
  • Ability to remain focused in situations with continual distractions, maintaining a positive and pleasant attitude with all individuals;
  • Adapt easily to changing needs, conditions, and work conditions. 
  • Continually produce positive results.
