| Job Description: | We are looking for a Safety and Environmental Specialist to support the daily maintenance operations for a multi-community military residential portfolio. • Reviews Project Environmental Management Plans for Operations, Project and Legal team for contractual requirements with Public Private Ventures • Develops, publishes, and maintains the project Environmental Management Plan and monitors all sites for compliance. • Performs audits and assessments to report environmental performance to internal and external clients and regulatory bodies. • Develops programs and procedures relating to occupational health, safety, environmental, and workers' compensation; organizes training activities related to these areas. • Assesses new developments and regulations in the occupational health, safety, and environmental field which may impact project operations; assists management in understanding OSHA and EPA/DOE regulations and standards to include guidance on compliance, inspections and citations. • Assists managers and supervisors in identifying and evaluating hazardous conditions and practices; ensures corrective actions are implemented. • Assists managers and supervisors in collecting, consolidating, packaging, retaining, shipping, and treatment of industrial and hazardous waste. • Conducts regulatory inspections such as mold inspections, LBP inspections, asbestos inspections, safety inspections of equipment, and job sites. • Collects and analyzes data and prepares reports on a monthly basis for occupational health, safety & environmental statistics, and audits processes to ensure they comply with standards and customer requirements consistent with established procedures. • Tests and certifies fire sprinkler systems and alarms on homes and offices; compiles written reports on findings and maintain records. Ensures systems comply with N.F.P.A. standards and local fire codes. Assists corporate security and safety during annual property conservation inspection. • Advises, consults and counsels maintenance and leasing supervisors in identifying and evaluating hazardous conditions and practices and ensuring corrective actions are implemented. Responds to inquiries from the general manager, and exchanges information with environmental engineering and corporate security and safety in the course of continuous compliance to accomplish job objectives. • A high school graduate with Certification in OSHA 501 as well as professional and state licensing for inspection (mold, LBP, asbestos), NFPA, and national safety council. Bachelor's degree in Health, Safety, Science or Engineering preferred. Current state driver's license required. • In addition to the education outlined above, at least 3 years of proven and progressively responsible experience in safety, health and environmental programs creating and updating procedures for compliance to regulatory institutions. Prior experience conducting safety inspections and safety awareness training. Proven compliance history for hazardous materials and hazardous waste. Documented inspection history of mold LBP, and asbestos , along with coordinating corrective actions to resolve potential hazardous situations. • Strong verbal, written, and analytical skills as well as the ability to effectively interact with all levels of employees and management • Travel for this position is occasional, up to 25% of the time |
