Personnel & Social Services

Department: 
The Defense Personnel Services Business Unit has approximately 2000 employees and operates at hundreds of locations across the United States and overseas in Korea, Japan, Italy, and Germany. We provide personnel services to military personnel, military families, and civilians working for the military. Our capabilities address a wide range of managed services, as well as the complete military lifecycle which includes recruitment, to active duty through retirement.

Job Description: 
The FULLTIME Victim Advocate in at the MFSC Hawaii performs the following duties (but not limited to):

- Provides assistance to victims of domestic violence, abuse, or neglect
-Assists in safe harbor and safety plans as well as Military Orders of Protection.
-Provides "on-call" coverage at least one week each month for after-hours crisis.
-Ensures all cases are handled in accordance with Federal, State and Local laws as well as Dept. of Defense regulations.
-Provides training to base and command leadership for restricted and unrestricted reporting protocols.
-Prepares and distributes marketing materials for awareness campaigns (i.e. Child Abuse Awareness Month, etc.)
-Provides inter-agency coordination (legal, medical, law enforcement, etc.) to ensure victim receives all required services.
-Provides transportation (as necessary) for victim to attend medical, legal, or law enforcement appointments.
- Ensures all Victim Advocate activities are recorded in FFSMIS.

Travel may be required.

Required Skills and Experience: 
Position requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent and 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. 

-Individual must be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the counseling field. 
-Knowledge of challenges of a military lifestyle and sources of stress.
