Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinates the placement of students in care professional sites with supervisors to provide services to patients, tracks and analyzes evaluations, and manages daily program issues as needed,
- Develops and implements new community programs and sites by networking, partnering and seeking grants with physicians and various agencies (ie: DOE, HMSA, Drug Enforcement Agency). Designs educational expectations and creates schedule of visits.
- Manages the longitudinal lecture series for first- and second-year medical students including the recruitment & scheduling of faculty speakers, providing audio/visual setup, collecting lecture objectives and placement of questions on exams from lectures.
- Oversees the medical student enrollment for the required summer selective courses (MDED 555), assigns teaching space to faculty, trains faculty on the procedures for establishing new courses, and recruits new faculty to teach courses as needed.
- Oversees the 1st- and 2nd-year med student elective program required to meet the elective requirements of LCME accreditation including coordinating teaching sites, and guiding faculty members through the process of establishing new courses.
- Aligns each elective experiences w/ the school’s policies, practices, & educational philosophy.
- Develops the budget for the OME CHP and oversees the preparation and completion of fiscal documents including those for reimbursement of educational supply expenses for first and second-year educational programs.
- Directs faculty & staff grading of mid-& end-course examinations for 1st- & 2nd-yr med students in adherence w/ academic guidelines, prepares, disseminates, & collects exams from faculty graders, & disseminates course performance results to med students.
- Oversees special testing accommodations for students in conjunction with the Office of Student Affairs.
- Provides administrative & analytic support & follow-up for the Preclinical Education & the Electives Committees, including preparing & consolidating student performance data for committee meetings.
- Creates curriculum sub-committee reports required to show compliance with LCME accreditation standards on the regular review of the content, sequencing, & vertical integration of content in the preclinical segment of the curriculum.
- Responsible for the overall management of the OME Community Health Program (CHP),a one-year course required of all 1st-year med students. CHP meets the community service & service-learning requirements for Liaison Committee on Med Ed (LCME) accreditation.
- Independently recruits faculty and staff, evaluates supervision of students, insures the CHP is in alignment with the school’s educational philosophy, and coordinates the community health student assignments at the community health fair.

Minimum Qualifications
- Possession of a baccalaureate degree in Education, Educational Administration, or related field and 3 year(s) of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for program management and/or student support program management; or equivalent education/training or experience.
- Considerable working knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in the program management and/or student support program management as demonstrated by the broad knowledge of the full range of pertinent standard and evolving concepts, principles and methodologies.
- Considerable working knowledge and understanding of applicable federal and state laws, rules, regulations and theories and systems associated with program management and/or student support program management.
- Demonstrated ability to resolve wide ranging complex problems through the use of creative reasoning and logic to accurately determine the cause of the problems and the resolution of the problems in an effective, innovative and timely manner.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing, verbally and by preparation of reports and other materials.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team leaders and members, and individuals.
- Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing software.
- For supervisory work, demonstrated ability to lead subordinates, manage work priorities and projects, and manage employee relations.
- Any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience providing student services support and/or program management in a higher education setting.
- Familiarity with medical education practices.
- Experience coordinating community programs for university or professional students.
- Experience with fiscal and HR administration surrounding educational project budget, reimbursement, and hiring practices.
