Compensation: $100,000 - $130,000 Salary + 20% Bonus
TM8 http://www.tm8.ca is helping our client locate and secure a Corporate Steel Procurement Manager for their well established and growing steel products company.
The Candidate is responsible for the planning, execution, and finalization of procurement strategies for the purchase of steel used throughout the entire cross-country organization.
Responsible for acquiring resources within budget and facilitating communication between the enterprise and its providers in order to deliver products and services. They will also define
the objectives of products and services in order to oversee quality and control throughout the process.

This position is also responsible for managing and coordinating the data of all of the Company's steel requirements and is responsible for ensuring that related activities are performed efficiently, effectively and in accordance with established company policies and procedures.
The responsibilities of the position include:
- Define purchasing recommendations that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.
- Interview, identify, and qualify potential new vendors or suppliers in order to secure more cost-effective sources of steel.
- Analyze trends and market conditions for the present and future pricing, availability, lead time, and capacity of steel.
- Maintain long-term relationships with steel mills, trading companies and distributors.
- Develop and implement all purchasing policies and procedures for steel.
- Reviews proposed major purchase contracts for compliance with project and corporate requirements. Ensures appropriate value is received for monies expended.
- Assist in efforts to leverage total steel volume purchase in such a way that we enjoy a competitive edge when compared to our competition.
- Keep stakeholders updated relative to current and forecast market conditions that may impact our ability to support proposal efforts and projects effectively.
- Manage team that develops and delivers purchasing and inventory reports, required documentation, and quality reports.
- Lead, coach, mentor and motivate subordinates by conducting annual employee performance and goals reviews and holding regular employee and departmental meetings.

- Spot buys off shore
- Participate in the recruitment and selection process and employee performance management issues.
- Maintain a high standard of professional knowledge, ethics and practices when dealing with customers, suppliers, peers, subordinates, supervisors and other key stakeholders of the company.
- Other responsibilities and as assigned by the President.
- Travel & overtime required.
Experience and Qualifications
- Degree/diploma with purchasing accreditation.
- 7+ years experience in the procurement of steel.
- Candidates should have good knowledge of steel characteristics, types, sources, uses, etc.
- High level of financial acumen and analytical thinking to ensure each decision is based on financial merits.
- Capable of continually improving the procurement process.
- Ability to attend and conduct presentations.
