Job Description and Required Certifications: POSITION: Group Leader LOCATION: Camp H.R. Erdman PAY RANGE: $300.00/week STATUS: Full-time/non-exempt GENERAL FUNCTION: Under the supervision of the program directors facilitate groups in various camp activities. Groups will include schools, church, corporate groups, family reunions & summer resident camp. Activities include; high ropes, teambuilding, environmental education and aquatic activities. The Group leader will be responsible for being the lead staff within the group and supervising a team of international trainees, volunteers and part time staff. The group leader will also play a lead role in one of the following areas; conference & retreats, environmental education or resident camp. This is a year round, hourly full time role. Programming: • Supervise and facilitate high ropes, low ropes, and teambuilding and aquatic activities. • Supervise and teach environmental education to school groups. • Oversee aquatics activities. • Use good judgment when leading activities. • Attend staff trainings and meetings. • Oversee, train and develop international trainees, volunteers and part time staff. • Play a lead role in one of the following areas; conference & retreats, environmental education or resident camp • Other duties and programs as required that pertain to the operation of a camp facility. Child Development: • Be a role model for & develop positive meaningful relationships with youth. • Provide children with the opportunities to make new friends and learn new activities. • Be concerned with participant development & growth. • Be aware of health and safety concerns. • Recognize and respond to opportunities for the group so that each individual experiences success. • Ensure that each and every participant is included in the group. • Ensure that Camp Erdman is a positive and memorable experience for every participant. QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION/TRAINING: • High School Diploma or GED equivalent • Current CPR and First Aid • Certified lifeguard required • High ropes training preferred • TB Clearance EXPERIENCE: • Experience working with children • Experience with high ropes or aquatics activities preferred • Experience leading and training staff and/or volunteers Apply to: jobs@ymcahonolulu.org
